Suhaida Sukarman

Suhaida was born in Johor Bahru on 2nd March 1986. She is a graduate of University Technology Mara (UiTM) in Diploma in Art & Design (Ceramic) in 2007. She remained at the same university for Bachelor Degree in Art & Design (Ceramic) in 2009. She then completed her Master in Educational Psychology at the University Technology Malaysia (UTM) in 2012. As an art practitioner, Suhaida keeps herself updated in the latest art techniques and trends so that she can share the skills and knowledge to art industry. 

 

I am documenting a scene onto the visualisations. The artworks contain compositions, elements of art, sizes, forms and a contrast of black and white. My subject matter is feather and I implemented the element of movement, which symbolizes purity, freedom and growth. I work in paper clay for its suppleness, delicacy and strength. Paper clay’s willingness to be transformed, both in form and texture, makes it a perfect medium for exploring the iconic meaning of feathers and the concept of movement. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places.
